Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts.
2. Inspect and Replace Air Filter
  1. Open the hood and locate the air filter housing.
  2. Remove the clips or screws securing the housing cover.
  3. Take out the old air filter and inspect for dirt or damage.
  4. Install a new air filter (OEM recommended) ensuring it fits snugly.
  5. Reassemble the air filter housing and secure it.
3. Check for Vacuum Leaks
  1. Visually inspect all vacuum hoses connected to the intake manifold.
  2. Use a smoke machine or carburetor cleaner to check for leaks while the engine is running.
  3. Replace any damaged or cracked hoses found during inspection.
4. Test and Replace Spark Plugs
  1. Remove the ignition coils by unscrewing the retaining bolts and gently pulling them out.
  2. Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plugs.
  3. Inspect the spark plugs for wear or fouling. Replace if necessary (OEM specifications).
  4. Install new spark plugs and reattach the ignition coils.
5. Clean or Replace the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)
  1. Locate the IAC valve on the throttle body.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove any mounting screws.
  3. Clean the IAC valve with throttle body cleaner; if heavily carboned, replace it.
  4. Reinstall the IAC valve and reconnect the electrical connector.
6. Reconnect Battery and Reset ECU
  1. Reconnect the battery terminals securely.
  2. Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
  3. Check for any error codes and clear them if necessary.
