Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, extension bar, dielectric grease, cleaning brush.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the engine cover and remove any screws or clips holding it in place using the socket set.
  • Gently lift off the cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coil assembly on top of the engine.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling it away.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using the socket set.
  • Carefully pull each ignition coil out of its respective spark plug well.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use the spark plug socket with an extension to reach the spark plugs.
  • Turn counterclockwise to loosen and remove each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the removed spark plugs for wear and deposits.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a gap tool to ensure they match manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to ease future removal.
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use the torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 22 ft-lbs).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Reinsert each ignition coil into its position over the spark plugs.
  • Secure the ignition coils with their respective bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Reattach Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the screws or clips removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
