Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the ignition is turned off.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure
  • Locate the fuel pump relay in the fuse box and remove it.
  • Start the engine and let it run until it stalls to relieve fuel pressure in the lines.
  • Turn off the ignition and wait for a few minutes for residual pressure to dissipate.
3. Access the Fuel Filter
  • Depending on the fuel filter's location, either:
    • Remove the rear seat and access the fuel filter from the top of the fuel tank.
    • Or, raise the vehicle securely on jack stands to access the filter located underneath.
4. Remove the Old Fuel Filter
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter by pressing the release tabs (use a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary).
  • Remove any mounting brackets or clips holding the filter in place.
  • Carefully remove the old fuel filter from its housing.
5. Install the New Fuel Filter
  • Ensure the new fuel filter is oriented correctly (check the flow direction marked on the filter).
  • Securely attach the new filter to its mounting bracket.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines, ensuring they click into place to prevent leaks.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • If applicable, reattach the access panel or rear seat.
  • Reconnect the fuel pump relay in the fuse box.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the “ON” position (without starting) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
  • Start the engine and let it idle, monitoring for any abnormalities.
