Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues during the repair.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Using a hydraulic floor jack, lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands under the frame.
  • Remove the relevant wheel for easier access to the shock absorber.
3. Remove the Old Shock Absorber
  • Locate the mounting bolts on the top and bottom of the shock absorber.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the upper mounting bolt first, followed by the lower mounting bolt.
  • Carefully detach the shock absorber from its mounts and remove it from the vehicle.
4. Install the New Shock Absorber
  • Position the new shock absorber in place, aligning it with the mounting points.
  • Install the lower mounting bolt first, tightening it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 40-60 Nm).
  • Attach the upper mounting bolt and tighten to the recommended torque.
5. Reassemble the Suspension
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 120 Nm).
6. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Check for any leaks around the new shock absorber.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure proper installation and functionality.
