Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, lug wrench, tire pressure gauge, tire repair kit (if applicable), spare tire (if needed).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat, stable surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Loosen Lug Nuts
  • Use the lug wrench to slightly loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire before raising the vehicle.
  • Turn the lug nuts counterclockwise until they are loose but do not remove them completely.
3. Raise the Vehicle
  • Place the jack under the vehicle's designated jacking point (refer to the owner’s manual for the correct location).
  • Raise the vehicle until the tire is off the ground.
4. Remove the Flat Tire
  • Fully remove the loosened lug nuts and place them in a safe location.
  • Carefully pull the flat tire off the wheel hub.
5. Inspect and Repair (if applicable)
  • If the tire has a puncture smaller than 1/4 inch, use the tire repair kit to seal the puncture following the kit's instructions.
  • If the damage is not repairable, proceed to install the spare tire.
6. Install the Spare Tire
  • Align the spare tire with the wheel hub and push it onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts onto the wheel bolts.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground using the jack.
  • Once on the ground, fully tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure. Aim for the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 85-100 lb-ft for most vehicles).
8. Dispose of the Flat Tire
  • If the flat tire is beyond repair, take it to a tire shop for proper disposal or recycling.
