Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is warm.
  • Gather necessary tools such as gloves, a funnel (if needed), and a clean lint-free cloth.
2. Access Transmission Dipstick or Fill Plug
  • For vehicles with a dipstick:
    • Open the hood and locate the transmission dipstick, typically found near the back of the engine bay.
    • Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth.
  • For vehicles without a dipstick:
    • Locate the transmission fill plug on the side of the transmission casing.
    • Use a socket wrench to remove the fill plug.
3. Check Fluid Level
  • Using the dipstick:
    • Insert the cleaned dipstick back into the tube fully and then remove it again.
    • Check the fluid level on the dipstick. It should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks.
  • Using the fill plug:
    • If fluid dribbles out of the fill hole when the plug is removed, the level is adequate.
    • If no fluid comes out, the level is low and requires topping off.
4. Add Transmission Fluid (if necessary)
  • If the fluid level is low, use a funnel to add the appropriate transmission fluid (check the owner's manual for the correct type).
  • Add fluid gradually, checking the level frequently to avoid overfilling.
5. Reassemble
  • Reinsert the dipstick or replace the fill plug securely.
  • Close the hood and ensure all tools are removed from the engine bay.
