what causes my Volkswagen Passat B8 (2015-2022) brakes to squeak

• Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues while working on brakes.

2. Remove Wheel

• Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
• Remove the lug nuts using a socket wrench.
• Take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.

3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads

• Remove the brake caliper bolts using a socket set, then carefully slide the caliper off the rotor.
• Support the caliper using a bungee cord or similar device to avoid straining the brake line.
• Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
• Measure the thickness of the old pads; if they are below the manufacturer’s specification (usually 3mm or less), replace them.
• Install new brake pads, ensuring they are properly seated in the caliper bracket.
