Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing belt kit, screwdrivers, engine support bar, and OBD-II scanner.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Remove any obstructions such as the engine cover.
2. Remove Components
  • Remove the front engine cover by unscrewing the bolts securing it.
  • Disconnect the serpentine belt using a belt tensioner tool.
  • Remove the water pump (if necessary) by unscrewing the bolts and disconnecting any hoses connected to it.
  • Remove the engine mount bolts and support the engine with an engine support bar to facilitate access to the timing belt.
3. Timing Belt Removal
  • Rotate the crankshaft to the TDC (Top Dead Center) position; align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft.
  • Loosen the timing belt tensioner and remove the timing belt carefully, ensuring you don’t disturb the position of the camshaft and crankshaft.
4. Install New Timing Belt
  • Place the new timing belt around the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets, ensuring it is correctly aligned with timing marks.
  • Reinstall the timing belt tensioner and adjust the tension according to the manufacturer's specifications (usually involves a specific torque setting).
  • Reinstall the water pump if it was removed, using a new gasket and torquing the bolts to the specified value.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reattach the engine mount and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
  • Reinstall the serpentine belt and front engine cover.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and listen for any abnormal noises.
