Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: throttle body cleaner, clean microfiber cloths, a soft-bristle brush, a socket set, and a torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery negative terminal to prevent any electrical issues.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the cleaning process.
2. Remove Air Intake Hose
  • Locate the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Use a socket or screwdriver to loosen the clamps securing the hose.
  • Carefully detach the hose from the throttle body and set it aside.
3. Remove Throttle Body Assembly
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body by pressing the release tabs and pulling them off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold using a socket set (typically T30 or T25 Torx).
  • Carefully lift the throttle body off the manifold, ensuring the gasket remains intact. If damaged, replace it.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner into the throttle body opening while holding the throttle plate open with a clean cloth or your finger.
  • Use a soft-bristle brush to gently scrub away any carbon deposits on the throttle plate and inside the body.
  • Wipe clean with a microfiber cloth, ensuring all cleaner residue is removed.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Place the throttle body back onto the intake manifold, aligning the gasket properly.
  • Tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications (typically around 10-15 Nm).
  • Reconnect all electrical connectors to the throttle body.
6. Reattach Air Intake Hose
  • Ensure the throttle body is securely fastened and reconnect the air intake hose.
  • Tighten the clamps to secure the hose in place.
7. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the vehicle battery negative terminal.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle, checking for any irregularities in operation.
