Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: small screwdriver, multimeter, replacement key fob battery, OBD-II scanner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked safely and the ignition is off.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob casing.
  2. Remove the old battery carefully and note the orientation.
  3. Install the new battery (typically CR2032) in the same orientation.
  4. Reassemble the key fob casing and ensure it snaps back together securely.
3. Reprogram the Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Sit inside the vehicle with the key fob.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition without starting the engine.
  3. Turn the key to the "On" position and then back to "Off" five times within 10 seconds.
  4. Leave the key in the "On" position on the last turn.
  5. Press any button on the key fob for approximately 5 seconds; this should program the fob to the vehicle.
4. Inspect Central Locking System
  1. If the key fob is still unresponsive, test the central locking system using the driver door switch.
  2. If the doors do not lock/unlock, check the fuses related to the central locking system.
  3. Replace any blown fuses and retest the key fob functionality.
