Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it with jack stands.

Tools Required:

  • Floor jack
  • Jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Strut spring compressor
  • Screwdrivers
  • Pliers
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to loosen the lug nuts and remove the front or rear wheel that corresponds to the leaking strut.
  • Place the wheel in a safe location.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut using the appropriate socket.
  • Remove the lower strut mounting bolts from the control arm using a socket and wrench.
  • Inside the engine bay, remove the upper strut mounting nuts using a socket.
  • Carefully pull the strut assembly out of the wheel well.
4. Replace Strut Assembly
  • Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the strut spring.
  • Remove the top mount and spring from the old strut.
  • Install the spring and top mount onto the new strut, ensuring proper alignment.
  • Carefully decompress the spring while ensuring the top mount is secure.
5. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • Position the new strut assembly back into the wheel well.
  • Secure the upper mount with the nuts and tighten to manufacturer torque specifications (typically around 25-30 Nm).
  • Reattach the lower strut mounting bolts to the control arm and tighten them to the specified torque (usually around 100 Nm).
  • Reconnect the stabilizer link and tighten.
6. Reinstall the Wheel and Lower the Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and then fully tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque (usually 120 Nm).
