Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Torx screwdriver (if required for specific fasteners)
    • Mass airflow sensor cleaner
    • Safety glasses
    • Clean, lint-free cloth
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems to prevent shorts.
2. Remove MAF Sensor
  • Locate the MAF sensor, which is typically installed in the air intake duct between the air filter and the throttle body.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the tab and pulling it out gently.
  • Unscrew the mounting screws using a Torx screwdriver or flathead screwdriver.
  • Carefully remove the MAF sensor from the intake duct, avoiding any damage to the sensor.
3. Clean the MAF Sensor
  • Hold the MAF sensor in a vertical position to prevent cleaner from entering the sensor body.
  • Spray the mass airflow sensor cleaner generously on the sensor element (do NOT touch the sensor element with your fingers or tools).
  • Allow the cleaner to evaporate completely; do not wipe the sensor with a cloth as it may damage the delicate components.
4. Reinstall MAF Sensor
  • Once the MAF sensor is dry, carefully place it back into the intake duct.
  • Secure it with screws previously removed and ensure it is snug but not overtightened.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
5. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the vehicle battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes to ensure the MAF sensor is functioning correctly.
