Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Check and Top Off Oil Level
  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the oil level.
  • If low, add the appropriate grade of oil as specified in the owner’s manual, checking frequently to avoid overfilling.
3. Inspect and Replace the Oil Filter (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan.
  • Locate the oil filter and use the oil filter wrench to remove it.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter, tightening it by hand until snug, then give it a slight turn for a secure fit.
4. Test Oil Pressure
  • Tools Required: Oil pressure gauge.
  • Remove the oil pressure sending unit from the engine block.
  • Install the oil pressure gauge in its place.
  • Start the engine and observe the gauge. The pressure should be within the manufacturer’s specifications (generally between 25-65 PSI depending on engine temperature).
  • If pressure is low, further investigation into the oil pump may be necessary.
5. Reassemble and Reconnect Battery
  • Reinstall the oil pressure sending unit if it was removed for testing.
  • Ensure all tools are removed from the engine bay and reconnect the battery.
