Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Transmission dipstick, funnel, clean rags.
  • Remove the transmission dipstick and check the fluid level.
  • If low, add the appropriate transmission fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Inspect the fluid condition; if it appears dark or has a burnt smell, a fluid change is required.
3. Replace Transmission Fluid and Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, drain pan, new transmission filter and fluid.
  • Raise the vehicle using jack stands and drain the old transmission fluid into a pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan and filter, replacing with a new filter.
  • Reinstall the transmission pan using a new gasket and torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Fill the transmission with new fluid using a funnel through the dipstick tube.
4. Inspect and Replace Transmission Mounts (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, pry bar.
  • Inspect the transmission mounts for cracks or excessive wear.
  • If damaged, remove the old mounts by unbolting them from the transmission and the chassis.
  • Install new mounts and torque to manufacturer specifications.
5. Inspect Electrical Connections
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, wire brush, electrical cleaner.
  • Check the transmission control module connections for corrosion.
  • Clean any corrosion and ensure all connections are secure.
