Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Spring compressor (if replacing struts)
    • Screwdrivers
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
    • Always use jack stands when the vehicle is lifted.
2. Remove Strut Assembly
  1. Lift the Vehicle: Use the jack to raise the front or rear of the vehicle and secure with jack stands.
  2. Remove Wheel: Take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
  3. Disconnect Brake Line: Carefully detach the brake line from the strut to prevent damage.
  4. Unbolt Strut: Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle and the top mount.
  5. Remove Strut Assembly: Carefully pull the strut assembly out of its mount.
3. Inspect and Replace
  1. Inspect Strut: Check for oil leaks, damage, and overall condition. If damaged, replace the strut.
  2. Install New Strut: If replacing, line up the new strut with the mount and secure it in place.
  3. Torque Specifications: Tighten bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque ratings (refer to service manual for values).
  4. Reattach Brake Line: Secure the brake line back to its original position.
4. Reassemble Vehicle
  1. Reattach Wheel: Put the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower Vehicle: Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  3. Torque Lug Nuts: Once on the ground, fully tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
