Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Using a socket set, remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils on top of the spark plugs.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling gently.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Use a socket or ratchet to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil.
  • Carefully pull each ignition coil straight out of the spark plug well.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for wear and carbon buildup.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (if recommended).
  • Hand-thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading.
  • Tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically 22 lb-ft or as specified in the service manual).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
  • Carefully insert each ignition coil back into its respective spark plug well and secure with bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
8. Reattach Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Position the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with screws or bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
