Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, multimeter, torque wrench, fluid pump, funnel, and rags for cleaning.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems. Allow the engine to cool before working on the transmission.
2. Fluid Change
  1. Lift the Vehicle: Use a jack and jack stands to safely elevate the vehicle.
  2. Drain the Old Fluid:
    • Locate the transmission fluid drain plug.
    • Place a drain pan underneath and remove the drain plug to allow fluid to completely drain.
  3. Replace the Filter (if applicable):
    • Remove the transmission pan bolts with a socket set.
    • Carefully detach the transmission pan and replace the old filter with a new one.
    • Clean the pan and replace the pan gasket.
    • Reinstall the transmission pan and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  4. Refill with New Fluid:
    • Using a fluid pump, fill the transmission with the appropriate type of transmission fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
    • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, then cycle through the gears with the brake applied.
3. Solenoid Replacement (if necessary)
  1. Locate the Transmission Solenoids: Reference the service manual for the exact location.
  2. Remove the Transmission Pan (if not already done): Follow similar steps as in Fluid Change.
  3. Disconnect Electrical Connectors: Carefully unclip and disconnect the wiring harness from the solenoids.
  4. Remove and Replace Solenoids: Unbolt the existing solenoids and replace them with new ones, ensuring they are securely fastened.
  5. Reassemble the Transmission Pan: Reinstall the pan as previously instructed.
4. TCM Reset (if necessary)
  1. Reconnect the Battery: Ensure all connections are secure.
  2. Reset TCM: Use the OBD-II scanner to clear any transmission-related codes and reset the TCM.
