Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: a clean cloth or paper towel for handling the cap.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns from hot coolant.
2. Locate Coolant Reservoir
  • Open the hood and secure it with the hood prop.
  • Identify the coolant reservoir, which is usually on the left side of the engine bay, marked with a coolant symbol on the cap.
3. Inspect Coolant Level
  • Look at the side of the reservoir to find the minimum (MIN) and maximum (MAX) level indicators.
  • If the coolant is below the MIN mark, prepare to add coolant.
4. Add Coolant (if necessary)
  • If the level is low, remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise—use a cloth to protect your hand if the cap is hot.
  • Pour the appropriate coolant (usually a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze suitable for VW vehicles) into the reservoir until it reaches the MAX mark.
  • Replace the cap securely by turning it clockwise.
