Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set
    • Oil drain pan
    • Funnel
    • Torque wrench
    • Rags or towels
  • Parts Required:
    • New engine oil (specifications from owner manual)
    • New oil filter
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Allow the engine to cool down before starting the oil change.
    • Always wear gloves and safety glasses when handling oil.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Step 1: Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan's drain plug.
  • Step 2: Using the socket set, loosen and remove the drain plug (turn counterclockwise).
  • Step 3: Allow the old oil to completely drain into the pan.
  • Step 4: Once drained, clean the drain plug and replace the washer if necessary.
  • Step 5: Reinstall the drain plug and tighten to the manufacturer’s torque specification (typically around 20 Nm).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Step 1: Locate the oil filter (usually accessible from the top or bottom).
  • Step 2: Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter.
  • Step 3: Before installing the new filter, apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Step 4: Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it according to the manufacturer's specifications (usually about 3/4 of a turn after it makes contact).
4. Add New Oil
  • Step 1: Open the hood and locate the oil filler cap on the top of the engine.
  • Step 2: Remove the cap and place a funnel into the opening.
  • Step 3: Pour the new engine oil into the funnel, using the correct amount specified in the owner manual.
  • Step 4: Replace the oil filler cap securely.
5. Check Oil Level
  • Step 1: Start the vehicle and let it idle for a minute to circulate the new oil.
  • Step 2: Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes.
  • Step 3: Use the dipstick to check the oil level; add more oil if necessary to reach the appropriate level.
