Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing belt kit, OBD-II scanner, flathead screwdriver, ratchet, and extension.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands for safety.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Remove any plastic engine covers using the appropriate socket.
  • Set aside the fasteners in a labeled container for reinstallation.
3. Access Timing Belt Area
  • Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner pulley.
  • Take off the crankshaft pulley by removing the center bolt.
  • Remove any additional components blocking access to the timing belt cover (e.g., engine mount, water pump, etc.).
4. Remove Timing Belt
  • Align the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC) by rotating the crankshaft.
  • Loosen and remove the timing belt tensioner.
  • Take off the timing belt by carefully sliding it off the pulleys, noting the routing.
5. Install New Timing Belt
  • Install the new timing belt by following the original routing path.
  • Ensure all timing marks are aligned correctly on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys.
  • Reinstall the timing belt tensioner and adjust it to the specified tension.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach any components removed during the access process, ensuring all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the serpentine belt and any engine covers.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
