Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, extension bar, spark plug socket, ratchet, anti-seize compound, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the work.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  1. If applicable, remove any engine cover by unscrewing the bolts or clips that secure it.
  2. Set the cover aside carefully to access the ignition coils or spark plugs.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors on each ignition coil.
  2. Remove the bolts securing the coils using a socket and ratchet.
  3. Gently pull the coils out from the spark plug tubes. Do not twist them to avoid damaging the seals.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  1. Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  2. Inspect the removed spark plugs for signs of wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  1. Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary to the manufacturer’s specification.
  2. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs.
  3. Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  4. Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 22 ft-lbs).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  1. Insert the ignition coils back into their respective positions over the new spark plugs.
  2. Secure the coils with bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  1. Place the engine cover back and secure it with the previously removed bolts or clips.
8. Reconnect Battery
  1. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
