Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: socket set, spark plug socket, torque wrench, extension bar, dielectric grease, and new spark plugs.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate and remove any screws or clips securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the spark plugs, such as the ignition coil connectors.
  • Unplug the ignition coil connectors by pressing the release tab and pulling straight out.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Use a socket and ratchet to remove the bolts securing the ignition coils.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coils out from the spark plug wells.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew the old spark plugs from the engine.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for wear and compare them to the new ones.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to facilitate easier removal in the future.
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 22 lb-ft for the MK7.5).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place the ignition coils back into their respective positions and secure them with bolts.
  • Reconnect the ignition coil connectors until you hear a click.
8. Reattach Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Align the engine cover with the mounting points and secure it with screws or clips.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
