Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brake pads you're replacing.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to prevent it from falling.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts from the wheel.
  • Remove the wheel and set it aside.
4. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper bolts on the back of the caliper.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the caliper bolts.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor and support it with a bungee cord or rope to prevent strain on the brake line.
5. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Compare the old pads with the new ones to ensure correct fitment.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to prevent squeaking.
  • Install the new pads into the caliper bracket.
6. Reinstall the Brake Caliper
  • Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston if necessary to fit over the new pads.
  • Slide the caliper back into place over the new brake pads.
  • Reinstall and tighten the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 25-30 Nm).
7. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts and then use the lug wrench to tighten them in a crisscross pattern to ensure an even fit.
8. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground using the jack.
  • Remove the jack stands and fully lower the jack.
9. Final Checks
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to ensure the brake pads seat properly.
  • Check fluid levels in the brake master cylinder and top off if necessary.
