Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts: a new key fob battery (CR2032 or as specified), multimeter.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe, well-ventilated area.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Locate the seam on the key fob and use a small flat-head screwdriver to gently pry it open.
  2. Carefully separate the two halves of the key fob.
  3. Remove the old battery, noting the orientation (positive and negative sides).
  4. Insert the new battery in the same orientation.
  5. Press the two halves of the key fob back together until they click securely into place.
3. Test Key Fob Functionality
  1. Stand near the vehicle and press any button on the key fob.
  2. Observe if the vehicle responds (locks/unlocks).
  3. If still unresponsive, use a multimeter:
    • Set the multimeter to the diode test function.
    • Press the key fob button and check for voltage output. If there is no reading, the fob may need replacement.
4. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position without starting the engine.
  2. Press the lock button on the key fob for about 5 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
  4. Test the key fob again to see if it has been successfully reprogrammed.
