Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set (including 10mm and 13mm sockets)
    • Ratchet and extension
    • Torque wrench
    • Serpentine belt tool or long-handled wrench
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove the Engine Cover
  • Remove any screws or clips holding the engine cover in place.
  • Lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Relieve Tension on the Serpentine Belt
  • Locate the serpentine belt tensioner (typically on the side of the engine).
  • Use the serpentine belt tool or a wrench to rotate the tensioner counterclockwise, relieving tension on the belt.
  • Slip the belt off the pulleys while maintaining tension on the tensioner.
4. Inspect and Replace the Belt
  • Compare the old serpentine belt with the new one to ensure it is the correct length and width.
  • Install the new serpentine belt by routing it according to the belt routing diagram often found on a label near the engine compartment.
  • Ensure the belt is properly seated on all pulleys without twisting.
5. Reapply Tension
  • Rotate the tensioner again with the tool or wrench to allow the belt to slip onto the tensioner pulley.
  • Release the tensioner slowly, allowing it to apply tension to the new belt.
6. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back into position and secure it with screws or clips removed earlier.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
