Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, screwdriver set
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery if necessary for safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to elevate the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to access the shock absorber.
3. Remove the Shock Absorber
  • Top Mount: Locate the top mounting bolts of the shock absorber and remove them using the socket set.
  • Bottom Mount: Remove the lower mounting bolt at the bottom of the shock absorber.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mounting position.
4. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the shock absorber for any signs of wear or damage. If leaking, proceed with replacement.
  • Install New Shock Absorber: Position the new shock absorber in place, securing it first at the bottom mounting point, then the top.
  • Ensure all nuts and bolts are tightened to manufacturer specifications using the torque wrench.
5. Reassemble Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheel and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the battery if it was disconnected.
