Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, safety glasses, gloves, torque wrench
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels slightly before lifting the vehicle.
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels for better access to the tie rods.
3. Remove the Old Tie Rod
  • Use a wrench to loosen the tie rod end nut.
  • Use a tie rod puller to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  • Unscrew the tie rod from the steering rack or inner tie rod.
4. Install New Tie Rod
  • Apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new tie rod.
  • Screw the new tie rod into the steering rack or inner tie rod until snug.
  • Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut to manufacturer's specifications (typically around 35-45 ft-lbs).
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the front wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Remove the jack stands and carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the recommended torque specification (usually around 80-100 ft-lbs).
