Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, mechanical oil pressure gauge, socket set, torque wrench, oil filter wrench, rags.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool to prevent burns.
2. Check Engine Oil Level
  • Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, insert it back into the tube, and pull it out again to check the oil level.
  • If low, add the appropriate type and viscosity of oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench.
  • Locate the oil filter and use the wrench to remove it. Allow any residual oil to drain out.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter, then install the new filter by hand until snug.
4. Replace Engine Oil
  • Drain the old oil by removing the drain plug from the oil pan using a socket set. Allow the oil to completely drain into a pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  • Add new oil through the oil filler cap, using the correct type and amount specified in the owner's manual.
5. Test and Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit
  • If low pressure persists, disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure sending unit and remove it using a socket.
  • Install a new oil pressure sending unit and reconnect the electrical connector.
6. Verify Oil Pump Function
  • If issues continue, inspect the oil pump for signs of failure. This may require removing the oil pan and inspecting the pump gears.
  • Replace the oil pump if found defective, following the manufacturer’s specifications for installation.
