Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:

    • OBD-II scanner
    • New key fob battery (if needed)
    • Flathead screwdriver (to open the key fob)
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe location with the ignition off.

2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Open the key fob using a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it open.
  • Remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing up.
  • Snap the key fob back together securely.
3. Reprogram the Key Fob
  1. Enter Programming Mode:

    • Sit in the driver’s seat and close all doors.
    • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
    • Turn the key back to the "Off" position and remove it.
  2. Initiate Programming:

    • Press and hold the "Unlock" button on the key fob while turning the ignition switch to "On" again (do not start the engine).
    • Continue holding the "Unlock" button for about 5 seconds.
  3. Finalize Programming:

    • Release the "Unlock" button. You should hear the vehicle locks cycle (lock and unlock) indicating that the programming has been successful.
    • Turn the ignition back to the "Off" position and remove the key.
4. Test Key Fob Functionality
  • Press the lock and unlock buttons to verify that the key fob is now functioning properly.
  • Test the remote start feature if equipped.
