Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, ratchet, extension bar, spark plug socket, dielectric grease, anti-seize compound.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning work.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate and remove any screws or clips holding the engine cover in place.
  • Gently lift the cover off and set it aside to expose the ignition coils.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling them off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket and ratchet.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coils out of the spark plug wells.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully unscrew each spark plug from its cylinder head.
  • Inspect each removed spark plug for wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 22 ft-lbs, but check the manual).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the inside of each ignition coil boot for better electrical conductivity.
  • Insert each ignition coil back into its respective spark plug well and secure it with the bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with any screws or clips removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
