Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, dielectric grease.
  • Gather replacement spark plugs (ensure they are the correct type for the engine).
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the screws or clips securing the engine cover.
  • Use the appropriate socket or tool to remove them.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Identify the ignition coils connected to the spark plugs.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket.
  • Gently pull out each ignition coil from the spark plug well.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew and remove the old spark plugs from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the removed spark plugs for wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge. Adjust if necessary to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten them with a torque wrench to the specified torque (typically around 22 ft-lbs, but check specifications).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Insert each ignition coil back into its respective position over the new spark plugs.
  • Secure them with the bolts removed earlier and reconnect the electrical connectors, ensuring they click into place.
7. Reattach Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back and secure it with the screws or clips previously removed.
8. Reconnect Battery Terminal
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
