Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Fuel line disconnect tool
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Screwdriver
    • Safety goggles
    • Gloves
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the ignition is turned off.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Relieve Fuel Pressure
  • Locate the fuel pump relay in the fuse box and remove it to disable the pump.
  • Start the engine and let it run until it stalls to relieve system pressure.
  • Turn off the ignition and wait for a few minutes to ensure pressure is released.
3. Access the Fuel Filter
  • Depending on the model, the fuel filter may be located inside the fuel tank or along the fuel line.
  • If located under the car, lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove any protective covers as necessary to access the fuel filter.
4. Remove the Old Fuel Filter
  • Using the fuel line disconnect tool, disconnect the fuel lines from the filter. Be prepared for some fuel spillage; have a rag handy.
  • Unscrew the mounting bolts holding the filter in place using a socket set.
  • Carefully remove the old fuel filter from its mounting bracket.
5. Install the New Fuel Filter
  • Position the new fuel filter in the mounting bracket. Ensure it is oriented correctly, with the flow direction marked on the filter pointing towards the engine.
  • Secure the filter with the mounting bolts and tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications using a torque wrench.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines firmly until you hear a click indicating a secure fit.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall any protective covers removed during access.
  • Reconnect the fuel pump relay back into the fuse box.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the "on" position (do not start) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
