Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and safety goggles.
  • Safely park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery if needed for electrical safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel using the lug wrench.
3. Remove Brake Components
  • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor. Support it with a bungee cord to avoid straining the brake line.
  • Remove the brake pads from the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect Rotors
  • Inspect the brake rotors for grooves, cracks, or significant wear.
  • If damaged, replace the rotors. If they are within specifications, proceed to clean them with brake cleaner.
5. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to prevent noise.
  • Install the new brake pads in the caliper bracket.
6. Reassemble
  • Reposition the caliper over the new pads and secure it with the caliper bolts. Torque to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery if disconnected.
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the pads.
  • Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
