Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and supplies: throttle body cleaner, microfiber cloths, socket set, screwdrivers, and a torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Air Intake System
  • Locate the air intake duct connecting the air filter box to the throttle body.
  • Using a socket set, loosen and remove the clamps securing the duct.
  • Carefully detach the duct from the throttle body and air filter box, taking care not to damage any sensors.
3. Access the Throttle Body
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body. Press the release tab on the connectors to avoid damage.
  • Remove the mounting bolts securing the throttle body using the appropriate socket.
  • Gently pull the throttle body away from the intake manifold, being cautious of any gaskets.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner generously onto a clean microfiber cloth.
  • Wipe the interior surfaces of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and surrounding area. Avoid using excessive force that could damage the components.
  • For stubborn deposits, spray the cleaner directly onto the affected areas, allowing it to soak for a few minutes before wiping again.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Ensure the throttle body gasket is in good condition; replace it if necessary.
  • Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold and secure it with the mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 10-15 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to the throttle body.
6. Reattach Air Intake System
  • Connect the air intake duct back to the throttle body and air filter box, ensuring a snug fit.
  • Tighten the clamps securely using the socket set.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes to check for leaks and ensure proper operation.
