Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and turn off the engine.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Inspect and Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level; add manufacturer-recommended fluid if low.
  • Check fluid condition; if it's dark or contaminated, proceed to replace it.
3. Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Place a drain pan under the power steering system.
  • Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump.
  • Allow old fluid to drain completely.
  • Reconnect the return hose securely.
4. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Remove the serpentine belt from the power steering pump.
  • Unbolt the power steering pump from its mounting brackets.
  • Disconnect electrical connectors and hoses from the pump.
  • Install the new power steering pump by reversing the removal steps.
  • Torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
5. Bleed Power Steering System
  • Refill the power steering reservoir with new fluid.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to eliminate air bubbles from the system.
  • Check fluid level again and top off as necessary.
