Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, torque wrench, flathead screwdriver, and safety glasses.
  • Safety Warning: Disconnect the battery before starting any electrical work.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  1. Use a socket set to remove bolts securing the engine cover.
  2. Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coil
  1. Locate the ignition coil on top of the engine (one for each cylinder).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling it away.
  3. Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using a socket set.
  4. Gently pull the ignition coil straight out of the spark plug well.
4. Install New Ignition Coil
  1. Prepare New Coil: Ensure the new ignition coil matches the specifications of the original.
  2. Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well, ensuring it seats properly.
  3. Secure the ignition coil with the bolt(s) removed earlier and tighten to manufacturer torque specifications (typically 7-10 ft-lbs).
  4. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ignition coil until it clicks into place.
5. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  1. Position the engine cover back onto the engine.
  2. Secure the engine cover by tightening the bolts to the specified torque.
6. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the battery terminals and ensure they are tight.
