Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels for safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the front or rear wheels, depending on where the noise is coming from.
3. Inspect and Replace Suspension Components
  • Shock Absorbers/Struts:

    • Check for any signs of oil leaks. If leaking, remove the old shock/strut by:
      1. Disconnecting the upper and lower mounting bolts.
      2. Pulling out the old unit and inserting a new one.
      3. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Sway Bar Links:

    • Inspect sway bar links for wear or looseness. If damaged:
      1. Remove the nuts securing the sway bar link.
      2. Replace with a new sway bar link and torque the nuts to specifications.
  • Bushings:

    • Check all rubber bushings for cracks or deterioration. Replace if necessary:
      1. Remove the component with the worn bushing.
      2. Press out the old bushing and press in a new one using a bushing tool.
      3. Reinstall the component and torque to the specified values.
4. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheels and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
