Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, fuel pressure gauge, multimeter, cleaning supplies (e.g., throttle body cleaner)
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Replace Spark Plugs
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable to access the spark plugs.
  2. Using a socket wrench, carefully remove the spark plugs.
  3. Inspect the old spark plugs for wear and replace them with new ones if necessary, ensuring the correct gap is set as per specifications.
  4. Torque the new spark plugs to the manufacturer's recommended value (typically around 13-15 ft-lbs for most Toyota engines).
3. Clean the Throttle Body
  1. Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body.
  2. Using throttle body cleaner, spray the inside of the throttle body while gently moving the throttle plate to clean all surfaces.
  3. Wipe away any residues with a clean cloth.
  4. Reattach the air intake duct securely.
4. Inspect and Replace the IAC Valve
  1. Locate the idle air control valve on the throttle body.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting screws.
  3. Remove the old IAC valve and install a new one, ensuring it is properly seated.
  4. Reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Check Fuel Pressure
  1. Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail test port.
  2. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (do not start the engine) and read the pressure.
  3. If the pressure is below specifications, inspect the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel lines for issues and replace as necessary.
