Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, impact wrench (optional), spring compressor (if necessary).
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
    • Use wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
    • Allow time for the suspension components to settle before starting work.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels before lifting.
  2. Use a jack to lift the vehicle from the designated lifting points.
  3. Secure the vehicle on jack stands and remove the wheels.
3. Remove Old Shocks
  1. Locate the upper and lower mounting bolts on the shock absorber.
  2. Use the appropriate socket to remove the lower mounting bolt first, then the upper mounting bolt.
  3. Carefully remove the shock absorber from its mounting location.
4. Install New Shocks
  1. Position the new shock absorber in place, aligning it with the mounting holes.
  2. Install the upper mounting bolt first and hand-tighten.
  3. Install the lower mounting bolt and hand-tighten.
  4. Using a torque wrench, tighten the upper bolt to the manufacturer's specified torque (refer to the service manual for exact values).
  5. Tighten the lower bolt to the specified torque as well.
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reinstall the wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the jack.
  3. Use the impact wrench or torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the recommended torque specification.
  4. Perform a final inspection of the shocks and surrounding components for proper installation.
