Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Replace Air Filter
  • Locate the air filter housing.
  • Remove the housing cover by unscrewing the clips or screws.
  • Take out the old air filter and inspect for damage.
  • Insert a new air filter (specific to Toyota RAV4 XA40).
  • Reattach the housing cover securely.
3. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Remove ignition coil connectors.
  • Unscrew and remove the spark plugs using a socket wrench.
  • Inspect the old plugs; replace with new plugs (specify the correct type for the RAV4).
  • Reinstall the ignition coils and reconnect the battery terminal.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Remove the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the inside of the throttle body.
  • Reconnect the air intake hose securely.
5. Check and Replace Fuel Filter (if applicable)
  • Locate the fuel filter (may be integrated with the fuel pump in some models).
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines and remove the old filter.
  • Install the new fuel filter (ensure correct orientation).
  • Reconnect fuel lines and replace the fuel pump fuse.
