Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for inspection and repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Components
  1. Remove Wheel

    • Loosen lug nuts with a lug wrench.
    • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure with jack stands.
    • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  2. Inspect Brake Pads and Rotors

    • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
    • Carefully detach the caliper and suspend it with a bungee cord (do not let it hang by the brake line).
    • Inspect brake pads for thickness; replace if they are below 3 mm.
    • Check rotors for scoring or warping; replace if necessary.
  3. Replace Brake Pads and Rotors (if necessary)

    • Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
    • If replacing rotors, remove the old rotor by removing the retaining screws, if applicable.
    • Install the new rotor and secure it with screws.
    • Reattach the caliper and torque bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 25-35 ft-lbs).
3. Check and Replace Serpentine Belt
  1. Inspect the Serpentine Belt

    • Look for cracks, fraying, or signs of wear.
    • If damaged, proceed to replace the belt.
  2. Remove the Old Belt

    • Use a belt tensioner tool to relieve tension on the serpentine belt.
    • Carefully slide the belt off the pulleys.
  3. Install the New Belt

    • Route the new belt according to the diagram located in the engine compartment.
    • Release the tensioner to apply tension to the new belt.
4. Test Drive
  • Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts, lowering the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Conduct a test drive to ensure the noise has been eliminated.
