Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, dielectric grease, compressed air (optional).
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate and remove any bolts securing the engine cover using a socket wrench.
  • Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the spark plugs, such as the air intake duct or ignition coil connectors.
  • Label and disconnect the ignition coil connectors, then remove the bolts securing the coils using a socket.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a compressed air nozzle to blow away any debris around the spark plug openings.
  • Insert the spark plug socket onto each spark plug and turn counterclockwise to remove them.
  • Carefully extract the old spark plugs from the cylinder head.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs with a feeler gauge and adjust as necessary according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
  • Insert the new spark plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the socket. Use a torque wrench to tighten to the specified torque (typically around 13 lb-ft or as specified in the service manual).
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the ignition coils and secure them with their bolts.
  • Reconnect the ignition coil connectors, ensuring they click into place.
  • Reinstall any components removed earlier, such as the air intake duct and engine cover.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
