Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools and Parts:

    • Tools Required:
      • Ratchet and socket set (10mm and 14mm sockets)
      • Torque wrench
      • Spark plug socket
      • Feeler gauge
      • Dielectric grease
    • Parts Required:
      • New spark plugs (ensure they meet OEM specifications)
      • New ignition coil (if applicable)
  • Safety Warnings:

    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting work to prevent electrical shock.
    • Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning the replacement.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a ratchet and 10mm socket to remove the bolts securing the engine cover.
    2. Lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling it off.
    2. Use a ratchet and 10mm socket to remove the bolts securing the ignition coils.
    3. Carefully pull the ignition coils out of the spark plug wells.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the old spark plugs by turning counterclockwise.
    2. Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of damage or excessive wear.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Check and adjust the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge to match the specifications (usually around 0.043 inches).
    2. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs.
    3. Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
    4. Use the spark plug socket and torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer's specified torque (generally around 13 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place each ignition coil back into its respective spark plug well.
    2. Secure each ignition coil with the bolts removed earlier and tighten to the manufacturer's specifications.
    3. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the engine cover back onto the engine and align it with the mounting holes.
    2. Secure it with the previously removed bolts using the ratchet and 10mm socket.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is secured tightly.
