1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, U-joint removal tool, grease gun, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Remove Driveshaft
  1. Lift the Vehicle: Use a hydraulic jack to lift the rear of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Remove U-joint Fasteners: Using the socket set, remove the bolts that secure the U-joint to the driveshaft and differential.
  3. Detach Driveshaft: Carefully slide the driveshaft out of the transmission or transfer case.
3. Replace U-Joint
  1. Remove Old U-joint: Use a U-joint removal tool to press out the old U-joint from the driveshaft.

  3. Secure U-joint: Reinstall the U-joint fasteners and tighten them to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
4. Reinstall Driveshaft
  1. Reattach Driveshaft: Slide the driveshaft back into the transmission or transfer case.
  2. Secure Fasteners: Reinstall and tighten all fasteners securely.
  3. Reconnect Battery: Reattach the negative battery terminal.
