Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Torque wrench
    • MAF sensor cleaner (non-residue type)
    • Soft brush or lint-free cloth
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts or shocks.
2. Access the MAF Sensor
  • Locate the MAF sensor, which is typically found between the air filter housing and the throttle body.
  • Use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamps securing the intake duct to the MAF sensor.
  • Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from the MAF sensor by pressing the tab and pulling it out.
3. Remove the MAF Sensor
  • Unscrew the MAF sensor from its mounting using a torque wrench. Typically, it requires a T20 or T25 Torx bit.
  • Gently pull the sensor out of the intake duct, being careful not to touch the sensor element with your fingers.
4. Clean the MAF Sensor
  • Spray the MAF sensor cleaner onto the sensor element and housing. Ensure to follow the instructions on the cleaner for the best results.
  • Allow the sensor to dry completely; this usually takes a few minutes.
5. Reinstall the MAF Sensor
  • Once dry, reinstall the MAF sensor back into the intake duct in the reverse order of removal.
  • Tighten the screws to the manufacturer's specified torque settings (usually around 10-12 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until you hear a click.
6. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and let it idle. Check for normal operation and ensure that the check engine light is no longer illuminated.
