Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and turn off the ignition.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Remove the Brake Fluid Reservoir Cap
  • Carefully remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.
  • Wipe the area around the cap with a clean rag to prevent dirt from entering the reservoir.
3. Inspect and Replace the Master Cylinder
  • Disconnect the brake lines:
    • Use a line wrench to carefully loosen and remove the brake lines from the master cylinder.
    • Place a rag under the master cylinder to catch any spilling fluid.
  • Remove the master cylinder:
    • Unbolt the master cylinder from the brake booster using a socket set (typically 10mm or 12mm bolts).
    • Gently pull the master cylinder away from the brake booster.
  • Install the new master cylinder:
    • Position the new master cylinder onto the brake booster and secure it with bolts. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification (generally 15-18 ft-lbs).
    • Reconnect the brake lines and ensure they are tightened securely.
4. Refill Brake Fluid
  • Pour fresh brake fluid (DOT 3 or as specified by the manufacturer) into the reservoir until it reaches the full mark.
  • Replace the reservoir cap securely.
5. Bleed the Brake System
  • Start at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder (typically the passenger rear).
  • Have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
  • Open the bleeder valve on the brake caliper to release air and fluid, then close it once fluid flows without bubbles.
  • Repeat for each wheel in the order: passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front.
  • Check and top off brake fluid as needed throughout the bleeding process.
