Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, torque wrench, oil filter wrench, rags, and UV dye (if needed).
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Addressing the Leak Source

A. Oil Filter Replacement

  1. Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  2. Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  3. Install the new oil filter and tighten it by hand; ensure it’s snug but do not overtighten.

B. Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

  1. Drain the engine oil completely using a socket set to remove the oil pan bolts.
  2. Clean the oil pan and engine block surfaces with a scraper and solvent.
  3. Apply a new gasket or RTV sealant as per specifications.
  4. Reattach the oil pan and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 7-9 ft-lbs).
  5. Refill the engine with new oil.

C. Valve Cover Gasket Replacement

  1. Remove any components obstructing the valve cover (e.g., ignition coils).
  2. Unscrew the valve cover bolts and carefully lift off the cover.
  3. Clean the mating surfaces and replace the old gasket with a new one.
  4. Reattach the valve cover and torque the bolts to specifications (typically 7-10 ft-lbs).

D. Main Seal Replacement

  1. If necessary, remove the transmission to access the rear main seal.
  2. Replace the rear main seal and reassemble the transmission.
  3. Check the front main seal by removing the timing cover and replace if necessary.
