Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely supported by jack stands before working underneath.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where the strut will be replaced.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Disconnect Strut Assembly
  • Remove the brake line bracket from the strut if applicable.
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors that may be attached to the strut assembly.
  • Remove the top mounting bolts of the strut from the vehicle’s body using a socket set.
  • Remove the lower strut mounting bolts from the knuckle assembly.
4. Remove Strut
  • Carefully take out the strut assembly from the vehicle.
  • Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring if you are reusing the strut assembly. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the compressor.
  • Remove the top nut of the strut mount and separate the strut from the spring.
5. Install New Strut
  • If replacing the strut, install the new strut into the spring and secure it with the top nut.
  • Position the strut back into the vehicle, attaching the lower strut mounting bolts to the knuckle.
  • Reattach the top mounting bolts to the vehicle’s body and tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the brake line bracket and any electrical connectors.
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
7. Final Checks
  • After installation, check for any leaks around the new strut.
  • Ensure that all components are securely fastened and that nothing is obstructing suspension movement.
