Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, oil catch pan, clean rags, torque wrench, O-ring pick.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and allow the engine to cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Replace Oil Filter
  • Remove the oil catch pan and position it under the oil filter.
  • Use an oil filter wrench to unscrew the old oil filter.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it according to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 3/4 turn after the gasket makes contact).
3. Replace Valve Cover Gasket
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the valve cover (e.g., ignition coils, air intake duct).
  • Unbolt the valve cover using the socket set, taking care to note the bolt locations.
  • Remove the old gasket and clean the surfaces of the valve cover and engine block with a clean rag.
  • Install the new gasket in the groove of the valve cover and reattach the valve cover, torquing the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 10-12 ft-lbs).
4. Replace Front Crankshaft Seal
  • Remove the crankshaft pulley using a socket set and torque wrench.
  • Use the O-ring pick to carefully remove the old crankshaft seal.
  • Lubricate the new seal with engine oil and install it flat against the engine block.
  • Reinstall the crankshaft pulley, ensuring it is torqued to the specified value (typically around 50-60 ft-lbs).
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • Reconnect the battery and check the oil level with the dipstick.
  • Add the appropriate type and amount of engine oil, as specified in the owner’s manual.
