Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Inspect CV Joints
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set.
  • Lift the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to access the CV joint.
  • Inspect the CV joint for any visible damage or torn boots. If damaged, proceed to replacement.
3. Replace Damaged CV Joint
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench, new CV joint assembly.
  • Remove the axle nut using a socket.
  • Disconnect the lower control arm from the knuckle to free the CV joint.
  • Slide the old CV joint out and replace it with the new unit.
  • Reassemble the control arm and wheel, and torque all fasteners to the manufacturer’s specifications.
4. Inspect Suspension Components
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, flashlight.
  • Check the ball joints, control arms, and bushings for wear.
  • If any components are worn, replace them as necessary.
5. Test Drive
  • After repairs, perform a test drive to ensure the popping noise is resolved.
